As a company which places chemicals on the EU market you are expected to comply with Regulation No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorissation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The REACH Regulation  came into force on 1 June 2007 in order to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be stemmed by chemicals.

Aim of the REACH regulation is the registration of all substances which is based on substance on substance hazard classification and volume.

    1/Grandfathering

Grandfathering is the process which allows you to transfer of EU REACH registrations to UK REACH system. Grandfathering gives you permission  to access to GB market. Grandfathering contains some steps. While transfering registration to UK System, notification of initial information is enough. However, full information is required to submit via COMPLY WITH UK within 2,4 or 6 years plus 300 days of the end of the TRANSITION PERIOD. 2,4 or 6 years are associated with tonnage band and hazardous properties of substance. The list shown below represents  who should notify within 120 days.

• GB based holders ,

• Legal entities who  have EU registration but they transfer it to EU based legal entity the dates between  29 th March 2017 and end of the Transition Period,

• GB based only representatives,

• GB based legal entities,

• When the GB based legal entity who was transfered registration by the other GB based legal entity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  2/New registration                                                                        

New registration is valid for substance is imported or manufactured into UK for the first time or the substance has not been registered under EU Reach. The inquiry dossiers are formed via IUCLID 6. Inquiry part allows people to find contact details with each other and to share data for the same substance. Registrations will be submitted to jointly under leader dossier but each member still must submit their own dossier . Whereas grandfathering process is free, legal entities must pay registration fee for new registration. By using inquiry number, registration dossier can be submitted to Comply with UK.

​      3/Downstream users

Downstream users or distributors under EU REACH will be importer under UK REACH. Downstream users under EU REACH must notify the Agency related to substance  to import the substance into GB market. There is a time limit for notification .It should be made within 300 days after the end of transition period. Full information must be submitted within 2,4 or 6 years plus 300 days of the end of the TRANSITION PERIOD.  The variety of years depends on tonnage band and hazardous property
